What is it about us that makes accepting a compliment so uneasy? Or sometimes, just downright difficult?! Is it an Irish thing? Is it an age thing? When someone says to us ‘You look great’ we immediately deflect the attention by brushing it off and saying ‘I got this in a sale for half nothing’ or ‘you must need new glasses’ or ‘no, I really do look awful’! We do it all the time! Why?
